Robert S. Strauss was born on October 19, 1918 in Lockhart, Texas. He received an LL.B. from the University of Texas in 1941. He was a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1941 to 1945; and a partner in the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, Dallas, 1945 to 1977 and 1981.
